About the Blogger

I was just thinking that I need to add more stuff to this blog. Or at least say what it's all about.

So here goes, I'm Destiny. 22 year old African American woman living in the Deep South. Sometimes that can be a good thing, sometimes it's bad. But generally it's just a another fact in my daily life.

Since I can remember I have loved books. I have a memory of going to the school library when I was six years old and just loving it. Since then the library has been one of my favorite places.

Once I started getting an income of my own, I turned into a book hoarder haha. Seriously if you look at my room now there are over 400 books. I buy books every month. I don't have a lot of thing that I spend tons of money on, but books are definitely one of them.

It took me awhile to get into ebooks. I was one of those "I prefer reading the real thing. Thank you very much." But since I've gotten my nook (named Nancy because I was being alliterative) I've read tons of books. I still read physical books, but I read and buy a lot of ebooks. I have officially changed my tune haha.

The Blog

I started this blog to be more of a lifestyle blog, but it quickly became clear that it would be more of a book blog because generally that's what I'm interested in haha. I do watch a certain amount of television and movies and I spend way too much time on the internet, but books are one of my main passions. So it became clear that should be the blog's main purpose.

The Title

The title comes from the name of young people prominent in the 1920s. I discovered this when I was looking up things about the Bright Young Things book series by Anna Godbersen. Who says young adult novels don't have a strong effect on a person's mind?

  1. I have a western historical ebook coming out the 14th. Would you be interested in reviewing it for me? TAMING JENNA was originally published by Kensington Books in paperback several years ago and received good ratings. Since it isn't released yet, I can only send you a PDF. Let me know If you'd like to read it.

    1. Hi sorry I'm so late in replying. Thank you for asking but I think I'll have to pass at the moment. Life's a bit hectic and I don't think it would be fair to accept if I can't read it right away.

  2. I was interested in seeing if you wanted to review my book as well. I had to contact you; your blog's banner is from my favorite painter, Jean-Honore' Fragonard. My novel, Queen's Autumn Gambit, has flashbacks that go as far back as World War I. You can learn more about me at www.kristenkindoll.com.

  4. Hi Destiny,
I wonder if I may be so bold as to recommend for your review the new Austen-inspired book, Follies Past: a Prequel to Pride and Prejudice by Melanie Kerr. It has been getting exceptional reviews on Amazon (amazon.com/dp/B00GD76KJY) and you can read the first chapter, the blurb and a bit about the author on the website: FolliesPast.com. There are also three enticing, film-style trailers that can be seen at that same website or on Youtube.
Essentially, the book is based on the story of Darcy, Wickham and Georgiana, as described in Darcy's letter to Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice. It is intertwined with an original and sweet love story of the author's own invention and is written in the style and the language of Jane Austen's own works.
Reading it really feels like discovering a long-lost Austen manuscript.
Please feel free to email me at folliespast@gmail.com if you would like any more information, or to let me know if you decide you might like to review it so that I can send you a copy, in your choice of eBook or paperback or both.

    1. Hi thank you for contacting me. I usually don't agree to review books because my reading schedule is very...eclectic. I would like to read it but I tend to pick up and drop books depending on my mood and I feel that wouldn't be fair to you do you know what I mean?
