Rating Scales

Here is my personal rating scale based on the Goodreads scale of 5 stars. I may implement half stars at some point in the future.

My rating scale:

I give a book five stars now (Books previous to 2013 aside) to a book that hit the buttons for me. It made me cry or laugh or it gave me a positive emotion. I like this book so much I want to reread.

Four stars: I really enjoyed the experience of reading this book but I didn't quite love it enough to give it five stars.

Three stars: This book was average. It was enjoyable but I felt it let me down in some way.

Two stars: I didn't exactly like this book but I didn't hate either. Two stars for me is kinda neutral.

One star: I did not like this book. This book offended my sensibilities in some way.

No stars: I don't think I can give a fair rating. Usually used if I think I don't have enough information to judge the book properly.
